You Can't Beat Hillary

Loyalty used to mean something in America.

To me it still does.

That’s why I’m with Hillary Rodham Clinton no matter what she decides to do or not do in her bid for the presidency, the vice presidency, or the campaign for Democrats to reclaim the White House.

Look for me in the arena in Denver at the end of the Democratic National Convention in August.

I’ll be the guy sitting in the stands until the last light bulb burns out.

And when darkness comes, I’ll raise my fist in victory.

You can’t beat me unless I let you.

You can’t beat Hillary, either.

Contrary to the headline in this morning’s Scranton Times-Tribune, Hillary has not quit.

She plans to suspend her campaign.

That means she can continue to raise money and control her delegates. Don’t forget that she has nearly as many as Barack Obama. She also has 18 million Democrats who voted for her and are now deciding what to do.

I’m one of them.

And I know that Obama needs me more than I need him.

Obama needs Hillary’s supporters more than they need him.

Until and unless he and his supporters get that fact into their elite eggheads, they’re
headed down the road to oblivion.

On the Morning Show with Nancy and Kevin today, a one-time pal of mine twice called me “irrational” for refusing to take orders from the Obama campaign that I surrender, sign on, and hit the campaign trail like a good soldier.

I refuse to just follow orders because I have a say in the future of my nation and my Democratic Party and intend to use it.

Hillary has shown her very unique brand of courage and determination during a long ordeal. The least I can do is show some loyalty and respect for what she symbolizes to millions of people, particularly women, who deserve better than what they got.

Now, to add insult to injury, we get threats and orders to do as we’re told.

Rather than bowing down, millions of Democrats vow to leave the party unless Obama attempts to make peace through persuasion, apology and thoughtful, heartfelt negotiation with the very people upon whose votes he depends.

If not, it’s bye-bye for millions who will abandon the Democratic Party the way they believe the Democratic Party abandoned them.

Even those of us who remain, and I expect to stay for now, have had enough of the snide attitude exhibited by countless Obama supporters. We’re waiting for the arrogant and aggressive dismissal of bright, hard-working voters to cease. We’re waiting for them to admit that they need us more than we need them.

Of course such an admission is difficult, especially for an egomaniac who believes that he can do it alone, that he is the chosen one to lead us to a similar peace and prosperity that the nation enjoyed under Bill Clinton’s presidency.

Even if Obama tries, and he might not try hard enough, countless Democrats who chose Hillary over Obama are angry beyond description. They deeply resent being called ignorant racists because they see Hillary as the stronger, better candidate to beat the Republicans in November.

They might forgive but they will never forget. Nor should they forget.

They should and will take a lesson from Hillary who stood up for herself and for others. They should see what happens between now and November. They should demand investigation that better explains exactly who this man is who expects to be president.

What we don’t know can hurt us.

In the meantime, I’m with Hillary.

Where I come from, we defend our deepest beliefs no matter what the odds. We’ll take a beating to get tougher for the next round. We’ll look our opponent in the eye with confidence because we know the power that exists in refusing to give up.

Hillary didn’t quit.

Hillary is just getting started.
