Secretaries Charged With Stealing In 2 Separate Cases

Two women were charged with stealing from their employers in separate cases in Luzerne County.

A former secretary at St. Aloysius Elementary School in Wilkes-barre is charged with stealing close to $50,000 from the school.  50 year old Michele Hivish of Wilkes-Barre surrendered Tuesday and was released on bail.  She's accused of sucking the money out of a number of accounts.  She was fired last year.

Carolyn Tirone resigned from her job as a Pittston Twp. secretary.  Her loss of income fromthe job she held for nine years is the least of her worries.  She's expected to surrender this week after she admitted she stole $25,000 from the township.  The money could be paid back in two ways...restitution...or an insurance policy that pays for "employee dishonesty."
