Rumors True; WVHCS Sold

The issue took a major step out of the "rumor" category when officials of the Wyoming Valley Health Care System announced yesterday that a letter of intent has been signed to sell the system to Community Health System out of Tennessee. It's just the launch of a long process. The system employs 32-hundred people. The release says all active employees will be offered employment in their current positions and at the same level of compensation. and physicians in good standing will contine to enjoy medical staff privileges. Community Health System is a for-profit outfit and a sale would have to be okayed by the state Attorney General.
