Lack. County Hires Lobbyist In D.C.

Lackawanna County is ready to cut loose some loot in order to lobby for bigger bucks. The majority commissioners voted to hire a lobbying firm in Washington to dig for more federal grant money for the county. Commissioners Mike Washo and Corey O'Brien voted for the idea...O'Brien noted that it's become trendy to get someone on board who can really dig into..and work...the system. But minority commissioner AJ Munchak voted against it, noting that federal lawmakers...especially US Senator Bob Casey, of Scranton...can do the job. O'Brien is quoted in the Times-Tribune as saying there is an "excellent relationship" with federal lawmakers from this area....but legislators like Casey "...have 66 other counties to represent."
