I never though I'd like one. I thought that they were just for “directionally challenged” people. I know where I'm going and if I don't, I'll just use a map. Right.
I was on a family visit in New Jersey last Sunday. An aunt had passed away and I picked up something that she and my uncle had, that belonged to my grandmother. They knew I liked it and “left” it to me. So I was there with my mom as she was saying goodbye to the house where her brother and my aunt lived, and afterwards, she wanted to visit 2 people, who were very close to my aunt to say “goodbye.”
“Oh great”, I thought. “ I'll be driving around all day looking for these houses that I've never been to before.” Luckily, my sister brought her Garmin GPS unit.
Bottom line. It worked spectacularly. I had never seen one in use before and it gave spot on directions. It was only 5 minutes between each of the houses we visited. I never would have found them otherwise.
I'm sold, and raved about it so much, I think I know what I'm getting for Christmas this year. |
