A big hello after some time away from the blog. I’m sorry to be a stranger, but I’ve finally wrapped up chemo and hope to be getting back to more energy and getting more done. A big thank you to Kevin Lynn for working solo some of the time while I’ve been undergoing treatment. I’ve had lots of good wishes from listeners as well, and they are always appreciated. 

 

I’ll be on the WVIA-TV show “Call the Doctor” on Tuesday October 16^th from 7-8pm. I’ll be giving the viewers a breast cancer survivor’s perspective along with some Dr’s from the region. My hair is just starting to come back. It’s chick fuzz right now. I’ve heard that it could come back completely different…maybe curly instead of straight, or a different color. We shall see. After years of longer hair, I’ve been liberated from the blow dryer and the curling iron, and that nasty hairspray. I told my husband to get used to seeing less on my head. A nice short style is what I’m looking at. 

 

Also, later this month I’ll be speaking at a Breast Health Symposium at the

Woodlands on October 30^t from 6-8pm. It’s free and open to the public, so come on out !

 

It is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I’m begging everyone reading this to make sure their mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, daughter, friend, co-worker etc. gets a yearly mammogram after the age of 40…and does self exams every month.   If they have breast cancer in their family, they should be screened 10 years prior to the earliest onset. I can’t stress this enough. A mammogram will find cancer before you feel it. I found my lump myself, a month after a physician did a clinical exam and found nothing.  Don’t let fear kill you.
